My stay in Portree was during my first solo trip to Scotland in 2018. I joined two ladies on Couchsurfing that were looking for other travelers to join them in renting a car and driving to the Isle of Skye. Kirsty, who lives in Sri Lanka was the driver as she had previously lived in Scotland and was used to the opposite side driving; and Anna was from Austria. It was just the three of us.

We arrived pretty late, they had a Couchsurfing host to stay with and I was in a hostel.

The first day, the girls were heading to the Quiraing and the Old Man of Storr, which I thought would be too rough for me. So, I explored Portree and then hiked the Scorrybreac Walk. This turned out to be much more than I had expected. Towards the end, the trail headed up the side of the hill with a zig zagging trail just like a switchtrack going up a mountain.
